Rooftop ;Week One, Building the Idea

So with the first of the three week time limit on this brief is now over So I guess its time to feature some actual work.

The Brief asks for A new noir-esque feel to the game So my first action was to just get a feel for this theme and warmup . To do this I thorght I'd start with a quick photo-bashed concept illustration:

In addition I also needed an abbundance of reference , One featuring some real world reference of new york rooftops and another featuring some game art and concept art with the same theme and look that I wanted to go for . The Titles I looked at were the likes of the Batman Arkham series,Deus EX , Mirrors edge and uncharted with also movies such as Blade Runner which is acting as my primary inspiration for this project:

I made a few notes analysing things that stuck out to me . One feature in particular was the idea of a rooftop garden or resteraunt , which I feel would vary up the game-play espiecially when it comes to cover mechanics. in addition I think it would mix up the asthetic too providing a change in pace from the average rooftops and also signify maybe a pivotal point in that level such as some sort of boss fight. So I'm deffinately going to build my Ideas around this type of feature.
